Product FAQs
What are DBG Gloves made out of?
DBG Gloves use ultra-thin cabretta leather, which is a special type of hairless sheep skin leather known for its softness, flexibility, and water resistance. Great cabretta also has a distinct tacky feeling, which makes it exceptional for golf gloves, and is why it's used exclusively in the most expensive gloves on the market. Our cabretta is specially selected to be less than .5mm thick. Despite being very thin, it's remarkably durable because it moulds to the hand and stretches over time.
How long will my DBG Gloves last?
We'll be real with you, like many things in golf the most premium products aren't built for durability, but for performance. Cabretta leather golf gloves are no different, and nothing performs like a fresh glove.
That is a big part of the idea of DBG Gloves - making that premium performance accessible to regular golfers. How often you replace your glove depends on a bunch of factors, like where you play, how often you play, your swing speed, what kind of grips you prefer, how much you sweat and the way you grip your club.
Our approximate recommendation is: 8-12 rounds of golf for a glove before relegating it to practice duty - and then use it until it wears through or completely loses its softness.
What size should I get?
Golf glove sizing is super important, so we've got a whole page dedicated to getting it right. We're in the 'fits like a glove' business, after all. You can check that out here: Size Guide.
A few quick tips though - if you usually buy synthetic leather gloves, you're probably buying a slightly larger size than you should be because they're tight, don't breath, and don't mould to your hand. If that sounds familiar it’s definitely best to refer to the size guide. DBG Gloves are made from an ultra-thin, very soft cabretta leather, that will stretch slightly and mould to your hand.
Otherwise, DBG Gloves have been developed so they size similarly to other premium gloves from the major brands, so the best place to start is with your current glove sizing.
And remember, we always offer our Right Size Guarantee, so if your DBG Gloves don't fit, we'll get that sorted fast and free.
What if my DBG Glove is the wrong size or it doesn't fit the way I like?
We say this a lot, we're in the 'fits like a glove' business. If you glove doesn't fit we'll get it sorted out fast and free. Check out our Right Size Guarantee.
How do I care for my DBG Gloves?
On course:
- If you can rotate between a few gloves they will stay softer for longer, and you'll get the ultimate performance for every shot.
- Remove your glove between shots to reduce moisture build up and allow it to air a little.
- Try not to crumple it up too much - either hang it somewhere on your bag / umbrella, or position it relatively flat in your pocket. Pros normally hang the fingers out of their back pocket. Some bags even have a little Velcro part to attach your glove to between shots - fancy.
- If it rains during the round, you can attach them under your umbrella using the tab to keep them dry and allow them to air out.
- Try not to use your gloved hand to clean balls and clubs, as satisfying as that might seem.
Between rounds:
- Keep the glove laying flat, ideally in the original packaging. We'll also have glove presses available for sale soon.
- Try not to leave your glove exposed to direct sunlight or heat, as this will dry it out and lose the tackiness. This includes leaving your glove in your golf bag, and leaving your golf bag in the boot of your hot car (this is also really bad for golf clubs BTW).
- If it was a wet round and the glove got soaked, try to allow it to air dry in a natural hung position. The clothes dryer is not your friend.
Cleaning:
- Spot clean with gentle soap and a damp cloth.
- Do not use harsh chemicals or put your gloves in the washing machine.
If DBG Gloves are really premium, why are they so much cheaper?
Honestly, it's mostly because we make a lot less margin on each glove. We can't even imagine how much some of the big brands are making, but we just think $40 dollars for a good glove is ridiculous. We blind test people with our gloves all the time, and DBG always equals or beats the most expensive gloves in the test (see pretty much every ad we've ever made). That's why we're called DBG Gloves, it means Don't Be Greedy.
Otherwise, our formula is:
- A laser focus on the things that matter, like feel, quality, and price, rather than logos or spiels.
- Relentless product sourcing, testing and player feedback.
- A sales model that avoids traditional and expensive channels.
- An efficient delivery-centric distribution model.
How are DBG Gloves different to other gloves in this price range?
DBG Gloves aren't designed to be the cheapest gloves, they're designed to be amongst the very best gloves on the market (which are more than $40 dollars each) at half the price.
Other gloves in this price range are synthetic leather (often marketed as all-weather gloves). This synthetic material doesn't breath, hardly stretches (they often feel very tight and players need to size up), and they never deliver that second-skin feel. For what it's worth, there is not a touring pro in the world who uses a synthetic leather glove.
Even lower end cabretta gloves (which are often 30-50% more expensive than DBG) tend to be much thicker, delivering less feel and tackiness. Lesser cabretta also tends to have a powdery, dry feel, that quickly hardens in normal play and doesn't deliver the confident grip of high end gloves. DBG Gloves use the finest cabretta, selected for thinness, softness, and tackiness.
We have put time and effort into delivering the best possible fit for the majority of golfers. Even if the fit is a little tight out of the box, it will mould to your hand and deliver a second skin type feel due to the natural pliability of the leather.
DBG Gloves deliver the ultimate grip on full swings, with incredible touch on partial wedges and shots around the green. We're confident that anyone who tries them will not go back to different gloves, whether that's due to performance or value.
